Jeffrey Daniel popularised "the backslide" in the US, and was the first person to perform the dance on British TV during a performance of Shalamar's "A Night to Remember" on Top of the Pops. JD was a dance mentor, teacher and choreographer for Michael Jackson – teaching him many street dance moves including the backslide which Michael renamed as the Moonwalk, putting his own spin on the move.
Jeffrey Daniel is an acknowledged world-wide as a pioneer of the West coast Street dance movement. He took a style of dance from the streets and clubs to the mainstream music and media world. This saw a fusion of Jazz, Popping, Locking, Robotics, Waacking, House and Hip hop merged into what is seen every day in the entertainment industry – street dance.
Through his work on the popular TV show Soul Train, Jeffrey helped form the hit making funk group - Shalamar. They had a string of hits such as "A Night to Remember", "I Can Make You Feel Good", "There It Is", "Friends", “For The Lover in You”, “Take that to The Bank” and many others.
